Why broad grocery price cuts may not payThe Wall Street Journal, 7 May 1993

A business paper reported that sweeping grocery price reductions did not reliably translate into better results.

The article examined the reasoning behind everyday low pricing and the conditions under which it can disappoint a retailer.

Together with the later review piece, it forms part of a long running thread about price, promotion and margin.

The scholarly version of this work appeared in the Journal of Marketing.
